Win a Lytro Camera – Share SXSW in Living Pictures

2013 Update: Win Lytro Cameras During SXSW 2013. Three ways to win – compete, share or show up.

Win a Lytro camera just for sharing SXSW in living pictures!

Play along with us during SXSW and you could win a Lytro Light Field Camera. SXSW offers tons of entertaining, interactive activities and we want to reward you for sharing pictures that tell “only-at-SXSW” stories.

How to play:

  1. Publicly share a living picture from lytro.com/sxsw or any living picture shot in Austin during SXSW to your Facebook wall or Twitter feed along with hashtags #playlytro #sxsw. Can’t find a living picture you want to share? Share a traditional picture that you wish had been taken with a Lytro camera or join us at one of our SXSW events so we can take a living picture of you to share!
  2. Start sharing now – the sweepstakes starts at 12noon CST, Friday, March 9, 2012. You may share multiple pictures per day, but only one share on Facebook and Twitter each day until 11:59pm CST on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 will be eligible.

How to win:
We’ll randomly select one (1) winning post each day between Saturday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The winning post will be selected from all eligible posts that were shared on or before 11:59pm CST the previous day and meet the “How to play” guidelines above and “The Fine Print” requirements at the end of this post. A winner will be announced via Facebook and Twitter and on this blog post at 6pm CST each day Saturday, March 10 thru Wednesday, March 14.

Prizes:
One (1) 8GB Lytro Light Field Camera in Electric Blue or Graphite, color subject to availability, will be awarded daily (retail value $399.). A total of five (5) Lytro cameras will be awarded during this #playlytro #sxsw sweepstakes. If you are selected as a winner and are in Austin, we can arrange for you to pick up your camera in person before 10:00pm CST on Wednesday, March 14. Otherwise, we will mail your camera to you within 2-4 weeks.

Winners:
Saturday, March 10: Dave Bell @hbeardave
Sunday, March 11: Robert Pronovost @pronovost
Monday, March 12: Sean O’Neill via Facebook
Tuesday, March 13: Jennifer Smith via Facebook
Wednesday, March 14: Brian Isemann @moegreene13

The Fine Print: (Cheerfully provided by our amazing lawyer.)

Eligibility: US legal residents at least 18 years old who are not Lytro employees or immediate family members of Lytro employees are eligible to participate. If we need to ship your prize, you must be able to provide us with a US shipping address.

Sponsor: Lytro, Inc. 1300 Terra Bella Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94043.

Other Rules: Respect copyrights – share only pictures that are yours or you have the right to share (living pictures from lytro.com/sxsw are fair game). No indecent pictures, please. By playing, do not violate Facebook, Twitter and Lytro terms of use. An individual may win only once. The odds of winning depend on shared pictures by eligible participants during each day of the sweepstakes. While we will make every effort to contact winners, it will be the winner’s responsibility to claim a prize. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash value. Winner is responsible for any taxes on a prize. We reserve the right to terminate the sweepstakes prior to 11:59pm CT on March 13, 2012 or amend their rules. Lytro, Inc., Facebook Inc. and Twitter, Inc. will not be responsible for any injury, loss, damage or expense caused by participating in the sweepstakes. These sweepstakes are not endorsed, administered, sponsored or associated with Facebook or Twitter; any information provided by participants is provided to Lytro, Inc.

WHEN WILL YOU HAVE A MODEL THAT WILL WORK WITH WINDOWS?

    • Lytro

This same camera will work with Windows when the software update comes out later this year.

  • just-saying

Do these cameras work for photographing the aurora borealis?
    Thanks!
    .

    • Lytro

We look forward to seeing someone try that out with a Lytro camera.

  • Yael Ulmer

So orders from November are expected to be delivered in April or May. If I order in March, I should expect (if we are still going with a five month delay here) to see one of these mythical beasts in August. Would the Windows version be available then? Could I be preordering that model now?

    • Lytro

Orders placed today have a May/June ship window. While we don’t have a specific date for the Windows software yet, it will be available later this year. Until Windows is available, we recommend that you make sure you have access to a Mac computer running OS 10.6.6 or higher in order to enjoy the full functionality of the Lytro camera.

    Good afternoon,

How can I potentially invest in this company?
Being on the east coast, where will you be selling them?
Shall I open a Lytro store?

  • Ian

I think you missed the point of Allison’s post. Your shipping out cameras for a contest prior to fullfilling your pre-orders from last November (I’m in the April/May bunch as well). I’ve only recieved one email saying be patient with no additional details on when in that two month time period I might expect the camera I’m perfectly willing to pay for.

    Awesome Product = Win!

Not Proactively communicating with the Customers who want to buy that product = FAIL!

I’m playing the contest just in the hopes I might get one sooner.

    -Ian

    • Lytro

Ian – All cameras are shipping in the timing that was promised when cameras were ordered. The Feb 14 email you received explained that you will get a narrower shipping window two weeks before your camera ships. Our marketing programs, including camera giveaways during SXSW, are not causing any orders to be delayed.

  • Tyler

People, please relax and just have fun with this. Thanks for the chance to win a fun camera.

    • Lytro

      Thanks Tyler!

  • Orkun

Please open the contest to international submissions as well, unless you really want to stay local in US!
Submissions through twitter and Facebook with geo-limitation is quite stone age… I believe people will be happy to cover international shipment cost if necessary (or you can even kinder to cover it as well)

  • http://shortwizard.blogspot.com Jackie in NC

These cameras are amazing. I would love to have one, and I wish I was at SXSW, too!

  • JFS in IL

OK, I did as you ask – winning is the only way this mom of four is ever going to get her hands on one of these cameras! PLEASE pick me!!!!!!

  • http://bellacarta.typepad.com Rebecca

Thanks for a great giveaway! I’m excited at the chance to win one and I’ve had fun watching the SSW photos – I think my fav is the texas star (I think its part of a gate) with raindrops on it, and the capitol is in the background. Thanks again!

    • Lytro

This one? I’m flattered…it was one of mine :) We had a great time in Austin and already are planning for next year.

  • Sven

Why are only residents of the USA allowed to participate? Facebook is international.

    • Lytro

Sorry Sven, currently we’re only selling to and shipping within the US. International restrictions and what not. But don’t worry, this is only the beginning!

  • http://www.SharonsPhotography.com Sharon

Can I enter different photos on Facebook than on Twitter and they both count, or does only one entry count?

    • Lytro

Only one submission a day counts, but you can share different photos every day.

  • Alex

I protect my tweets. Will Lytro still be able to count this as valid?

    • Lytro

They have to be public shares Alex.

  • Jay

    Why only US residents??

  • Kiran

What would be the equivalent tags for facebook, for you guys to track the wall posts?

    • Lytro

Hey Kiran, you can still post to fb with the hashtags #playlytro #sxsw.

      • Kiran

How are you going to track it? I have posted a snap in facebook on my wall that I wish to be taken with lytro with the hash tags #playlytro #sxsw.. They do not show any hyper links.

  • Allison

#1. Doesn’t this contest require you to have a Lytro camera to participate? Mine is not expected to ship until April/May.

#2. The prize is a Lytro camera, so theoretically, anyone who wins would already have one.

#3. Anyone who wins this prize will have received two Lytros (the one that the presumably bought and the one that they won) before I have gotten my Lytro which I have already ordered.

    #4. NOT FAIR.

    • Lytro

#1 – Anyone can share living pictures – you don’t have to have a Lytro camera or even be at SXSW play. In fact, you don’t even have to share a living picture “Can’t find a living picture you want to share? Share a traditional picture that you wish had been taken with a Lytro camera.”
      #2 – see above
#3 – Lytro cameras awarded as prizes don’t delay shipment of cameras that have been ordered

Hopefully, this helps clarify the rules for you.

  • Amuk

Some of us can’t make it to SXSW and are doing thinks like working out way through nursing school. Please give us a way to have a chance to win a Lytro too…

    • Lytro

It’s all in the details Amuk. Like us on FB and post any SXSW photos, even if they’re not taken with the Lytro Camera. Or do the twitter route and post with hashtags #playlytro #sxsw. Who knows, you could get lucky!

    • Lytro

You have to post to FB and Twitter with the hashtags #playlytro #sxsw, just a little bit more clarity there.
