Today marks the 175th anniversary of modern photography, and we’re celebrating with the launch of the new and improved Lytro Mobile App. The iOS app has been outfitted with a number of new features, many of which were recommended by you, our community.
The most notable changes include a complete re-design to modernize the app and match iOS 7’s design aesthetic. We’ve also introduced native iPad support to allow you to view and interact with living pictures directly from your iPad for the first time. You can also enjoy living pictures edge-to-edge in landscape and portrait modes, fully capturing the physical and emotional experiences made possible by LYTRO ILLUM.
Interactivity is the cornerstone for living pictures. We’ve taken full advantage of the touch screen to allow you to interact with living pictures with gestures such as tap-to-focus, as well as tilt or rotate to shift perspective. You can even change the aperture of living pictures with a two-finger twist.
If you own a Lytro first generation camera or LYTRO ILLUM, you can use the camera’s Wi-Fi connection to instantly post your living pictures through the Lytro Mobile App’s camera connection function. Your compressed living pictures can be posted on pictures.lytro.com or 500px.com/lytro, or you can share the picture links using email, Messages, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
You don’t even need to own a Lytro camera to enjoy the app — we’ve opened it up for everyone to view and interact with living pictures. You will only need to register to Like or re-share living pictures, which is simple and easy to do by creating an account or logging in with Facebook.
The Lytro Mobile App is optimized for iPhone 5S, iPad Air and iPad mini Retina, which provide the best picture viewing experience. For more information about the app or to download the app for iOS, visit: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lytro-mobile-app/id894109160?mt=8
