Help Lytro Get to SXSW 2013

Lytro is going to SXSW! It’s that time of year to vote for the Lytro Team to be chosen to speak at SXSW in Austin next Spring. We have an amazing line-up submitted this year and are super excited to hopefully see all nine sessions in action, but we can’t do it without you!  Please take just a few minutes to vote for the Lytro Team, and tell your friends and family as well. The voting is open until Friday, August 31st, 9:59PM PT.

If you haven’t already done so, sign up at the SXSW website here so you can vote.  To vote, simply click the thumbs up button on each of the panels’ pages. There is no limit on the number of panels you can vote for, so vote today to see if we can get Lytro into all nine panels.

Lytro at Comic-Con

Our first summer event is here! San Diego is about to be invaded by the most powerful super heroes and we’ll be there to capture it all! Lytro will be attending Comic-Con International in San Diego this weekend taking pictures of your favorite comic book characters. If you’re planning on attending, we’ll be at the following events, please come by and say “hi” and be a part of the picture revolution.

Lytro Activities:

Check back here on the Lytro Blog for live updates from the convention with pictures of all your favorite characters, daily updates on what’s hot and social contests (read: free Lytro cameras!) from the streets of San Diego.

Patriotic Picture Challenge

Share your Fourth of July in living pictures. If you’re celebrating with friends, family and food, it’s a great time to put your light field photography skills into practice.

Here’s some inspiration for composing pictures with a strong refocus effect:

1.) Fill the frame to capture a pattern like this field of flags. Check out our Inspiration Gallery for more details. Continue reading

Spaceships, grumpy kids and gardens

Over the past few weeks, Lytro employees and select testers in the field have been using prototype Lytro light field cameras to document their lives outside of the office. We’ve updated our Living Pictures Gallery with 11 new light field pictures; the selection includes pictures taken by Kira Wampler (Lytro’s VP of Marketing), Heather Champ, and professional photographers Jason Bradley and Philip Andrews.

Especially exciting are some of the pictures that Philip took at the landing of Space Shuttle Atlantis after STS-135, the last shuttle mission ever. We’ve got an interview with Philip in the works, and will post more about the experience soon.
